Superheros

In American culture class we discussed the American idea of superheros. There are many famous superheros in American culture such as Batman and Spiderman. We read an excerpt from the book" Superheros and Philosophy" by Jeph Loeb and Tom Moms. We read in the article that these superheros represent our deepest hopes and fears. Also they have powers and abilities for beyond ordinary human abilities and they are all good. For example, Plato, the Greek philosopher believed that good is inherently attractive. Moreover, we find these superheros stories have been popular for so long because we think that these stories are speaking to our hopes. These superheros also teach us not to accept defeat because we often just give up and find an easier path to solve the problems we face. Actually, some characters such as Batman can teach us to keep going even when the going is very tough.
